| On the news, you are hearing more and more about acts of persecution, here in America, by the media, politicians, the courts, and others. Whether it is being told you're not allowed to pray in certain places, being fired for saying that homosexuality is inappropriate, schools don't get government funding if they allow Christian clubs/orgs to take place on school property, church services being interrupted, churches being defiled, or people being arrested for conducting Bible studies in their own homes. (If you have not heard about any of these things, you really need to get caught up on the news! Because all of these things, and more, are happening here, in America.) Now, we live in a country that boasts Freedom of Religion (per the Constitution, should be without discrimination.) Imagine the Persecution endured by Christians living countries that openly tolerate persecution of Christians! |

| AFA is for people who are tired of cursing the darkness and who are ready to light a bonfire. We are a non-profit (501(c)(3)) organization founded in 1977 by Don Wildmon. The American Family Association represents and stands for traditional family values, focusing primarily on the influence of television and other media – including pornography – on our society. We believe in holding accountable the companies which sponsor programs attacking traditional family values. We also believe in commending those companies which act responsibly regarding programs they support. Donald E. Wildmon is an ordained United Methodist minister, having earned his MDiv. from Emory College in 1965. After serving in the U.S. Army's Special Services he pastored churches from 1965 until he founded National Federation for Decency in 1977. NFD became American Family Association in 1988. "I brooded for a while and then came up with a plan for our church to turn off the TV for a week. I sent out a press release and the national media picked up on it. "Through that 'Turn Off The TV Week' I learned there were literally millions of other people around the country who felt the same way I did. That was the beginning of the American Family Association." |
